Some of the gang's over-ambitious and ruthless men (and a woman) finish off their leader Roy (Jackie Shroff), to acquire a mysterious black box from which they plan to become billionaires.Meanwhile, Indian cops are after a smart thief (Neil Nitin Mukesh) who looted a massive sum of two lakh crore rupees. Ashok (Prabhas) and Amrita (Shraddha Kapoor) head up the squad. It's revealed after a thorough investigation that there is a connection between the huge sum and Waaji city. The arrival of Vishwa (Arun Vijay), Roy 's son, makes the plot more intriguing as he endeavors to find the murderer of his father and the money lost in India.
A film made with numerous actors on such a large scale needs a captivating screenplay and persuasive features, and that's exactly what Saaho lacks. There's a hero and the compulsory heroine, and there are far too many villains on the screen to focus on those many characters. None of the villains leave a big impact, which leads to a lack of emotional connection to the protagonist.
As the investigative cop in the initial scenes, Prabhas looks a little nervous but transforms as the hero as the plot progresses and excels in the action scenes. He, maybe, is the only saving grace. Shraddha delivers what she has been offered, and plays her part decently. The song placement is big let-down though they've been shot lavishly.
It doesn't help much the presence of several talented artists. On-screen, they all look different but in their histrionics, the many characters are almost the same. The film tends to tests our patients due to its prolonged duration after one point. And this is mostly dubbed in Tamil, which contributes to lip-sync problems.
Saaho 's makers reportedly spent a bomb filming the action scenes, but that's obvious in just a few of them. Many shots are made in VFX — while some of them are of top-notch quality, some ambitious shots appear below par. Saaho is an ambitious project that relies on technological aspects and the larger-than-life portrayal of its hero, rather than on its script.
