At one point in the film, the character of John Abraham, Raj, says, "Zaroori nahi ki har cheez ka matlab ho." Maybe this is the guiding light for the plot, the script, the dialogues and pretty much everything that happens in Pagalpanti. The problem is not the fact that it is a screwball comedy, but the fact that the false sense of a coherent narrative is small or no.
The film is packed with chaotic action from the very first scene, and dialogues trying to be funny, but far from it. And there are several characters there, one more silly than the other. Though Anil Kapoor plays with his trademark loudness the flashy gangster once again, Arshad Warsi is the funny guy with witty one-liners.

Despite his goofy character, John Abraham exudes charm and once again Pulkit Samrat plays on his boyish charm. But the three heroines are reduced to looking cute and mouthing nonsensical lines like, "Papa kehte hain kiss karne se mein pregnant ho jaungi."
Among the character artists, Saurabh Shukla is impressive as the bumbling mobster is more amusing than scary. A character named Niraj Modi (Inaamulhaq) is clearly modelled on the fugitive businessman Nirav Modi, as well. His character starts off as just another stereotypical cliché with an unconvincing Gujarati accent.
Director Anees Bazmee and his co-writers throw it all into the mix together. From exciting car chases to scenes of high-intensity destruction, from African lions to a whole act involving industrial grade glue – all shot beautifully in the picturesque UK.
Yet owing to a poor script nothing survives. There are way too many randomly positioned songs which only add to runtime. Towards the end, it also meanders into a more forced patriotic subplot.
