The story began in the late sixties when Bal Thackeray was a cartoonist for the Free Press Journal and continued right through the 70s, 80s and 90s when he climbed to the top of the political community. While a biopic glorifies its subject easily, Thackeray presents at a welcome departure the naked truth of the career of the protagonist.
This takes certain rights, but most of all the film depict him as the brutal dictator he was. He also stood in court to the extent that staff in his group contributed to the destruction of the Babri Masjid.
Thackeray is viewed as a tyrant hostile in his views and aggressions, whether at a trial or a campaign rally. He was not to thin his words, and the movie of the film director Abhijit Panse follows a similar principle in the speeches of the leaders with strong, divided language. He does not try to paint Thackeray's rosy image, but he seeks to make him the hero of the masses.
The director makes wise choices, such as the portrayal in Black and White of much of the first half of the film.
