He will pulp the evil guys and return to his own business. But Vikram is unexpectedly abducted in Syria by a terrorist organization named Jaish-e-Lashkar and Ronnie begins a rescue mission.
Director Ahmed Khan makes Baaghi 3 an acting entertainer with elements that highlight the brute force and deadly machismo of his leader in every trick in the film. In the high-octane action scenes, Tiger Shroff is depicted as one of the Bollywood's most bankable action stars.
The first movie of the series was a complex blend of a Telugu film Varsham, The Karate Kid, and The Raid: Salvation. Tiger took on a whole house packed with monsters on its own. The second was a remake of Kshanam, a Telugu movie. Tiger destroyed the villain and his Army in the 16-minute climax. Baaghi 3 is an adaptation of Vettai, a 2012 Tamil movie.
The two brothers stood up against the local mobsters in that film. But Tiger needs heavier opposition so director Ahmed Khan, who also constructed the action, decided to pit him against the war-torn nation. Mostly the destroyed scenery is used to make Tiger appear even heroic. Is that troubling? Yeah. However, this film also advocates encountering killings and casually shows a father whipping a belted child.
This is not a film based on any logic, not even under its own. Baaghi 3 is supposedly part of a franchise, but the three films are not aligned except for Tiger Shroff playing as Ronnie who is gifted with superhuman power and agility. By self-referencing conversation from his previous movies, Ahmed tries to reinforce the link – so at one point, Jackie Shroff playing Tiger's dad says: "Jo torture lag raha hai woh uska warm up hai".
And in another, Tiger delivers Heropanti's own dialog about Heropanti: "Kya karoon, sabko aati nahi, meri jaati nahi". Five writers were needed to figure out how this story could move from Agra to Syria. The story adaptation was credited to the director Sajid Nadiadwala. As well as writing credits, Farhad Samji, Sparsh Khetarpal, Tasha Bhambra, and Madhur Sharma have. And yet, the actual Baaghi 3 story feels like a placeholder until the next set-piece of action kicks in. Any of which we have considered amazing, personally.
The rest of the actors, including the magnificent Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, can not either. In the climax, they exchange this companionship look and we felt as if they were silently asking each other if it was good enough to justify their paycheck. Shraddha Kapoor who was in Baaghi comes back to play the chirpy girlfriend's yet another character.
And then there's Riteish Deshmukh, gloriously hamming as Vikram's cautious elder brother Ronnie. Every time Vikram is in trouble, he screams, it appears 'Ronnie' and Ronnie. It is an inadvertent comedy. There is a time when the two brothers first join up following the attack on Vikram.
