Dhanush starrer Pattas has become the latest victim of piracy website Tamilrockers. The film, which hit screens on January 15, also stars Sneha, Mehreen Pirzada, Nassar, and Naveen Chandra.

Dhanush plays a double role in the RS Durai Senthilkumar directorial. Pattas marks the second collaboration of the actor and director after the 2016 film Kodi. It is yet to be seen if Pattas’ box office collection will suffer due to the leak. The film faces competition from Rajinikanth’s Darbar.

Pattas opened on Wednesday to mixed reviews. In her review,’s Subhakeerthana wrote, “Pattas is a star vehicle tailor-made for Dhanush. It gets utterly generic, though the laughs (in the first half) are great.

Recently, Tamilrockers leaked some of the latest releases including Angrezi Medium, Darbar, Tanhaji, Chhapaak, Sarileru Neekevvaru, Ala Vaikunthapurramloo among more. Tamilrockers keep changing its extension so it gets difficult to put a stop to its activities. Many of its extensions were blocked by lawmakers but the website keeps reappearing. Users can also access the website using proxy sites.

Pattas (2020) Tamil Movie Review

Now and again, our Tamil filmmakers run across an old art form that has been forgotten or extinct, and come up with a film that glorifies it and returns it to public consciousness –  may it be only for a short period. With Pattas, Durai Senthilkumar wants to do something for Adimurai, a less known of Tamil Nadu 's popular martial art style, what Indian did for Varmakalai and 7aum Arivu did for Bodhi Dharman.

But the major issue is that he seems to have been faded away by Adimurai 's novelty, and he gives us a cliched action drama that is easy to predict from beginning to end. Forget the structure of the plot and the scenes, even the lines here are no wonder.

The movie opens in 2001 with the sentencing of a convict, Kanyakumari (Sneha, solid), to prison for murder. The scene then moves to the present day, where Shakthi aka Pattas (Dhanush, earnest) lives a happy-go-lucky life that entails some small-time thievery and friendly revenge towards the pompous neighbourhood girl Sadhana (Mehreen Pirzada).

The latter let him rob from her office, an academy of mixed martial arts run by Nilan (ineffective, Naveen Chandra). But little does he know he has a past with Nilan until he encounters his long-lost girlfriend, Kanyakumari, who wants him to avenge his father's murder, Thiraviyam (again Dhanush) and glorifying Adimurai, the ancient art form once again.

It is these segments that feature Thiraviyam which are Pattas' saving grace. This flashback is packed with suspense, but oddly, instead of fleshing out this section, outlining the tragic turn of the partnership between Thiraviyam and Nilan, and the latter's troubled relationship with his father, an Adimurai mentor played by Nasser, Durai Senthilkumar 's writing is satisfied with the wide strokes that these scenes are only half as emotionally impactful as they should be. But they do have an underlying rousing nature, enhanced by the punchy score from Vivek-Marvin.

The director, on the other hand, decides to spend too much time on the track Pattas-Sadhana, which is not as funny as he intends it to be. There is a lack of chemistry between the two leads, with a lifeless performance from Mehreen and youthful antics from Dhanush appearing as a juvenile. And even those sections that follow the big revelation of the film lack influence.

You get action sequences, which Dhanush aces. He doesn’t look out-of-place even in a single scene. But there’s nothing more. Durai Senthilkumar simply wants to celebrate Dhanush—a “big” star and his heroism. Thus, he weaves a story around the ‘mass’ elements tailored into a script (yet another done-to-death story) mostly, playing to the gallery.”

Also, the suspense that we equate with the genre of sports movies is missing in the scenes of the MMA fight, with Pattas being created to take on mediocre rivals. It's a shock after the solid performance in Kodi that Durai Senthilkumar has gone into his middling form of Kaaki Sattai and given us this Pattas without any hit.
